The only thing I don't agree with here is if you're going to ride at any given RPM for extended periods. I didn't keep mine below 5000 like they said. I let it get up to 9000 from time to time. But I don't think sitting in 6th gear on the freeway at 6000 for a 20 minute ride is good on a brand new engine. Don't worry about how high the rev's go, (I wouldn't bang off the rev limiter though) but don't sustain them for long periods of time. That's the way I look at it.man, i rallied the crap outta mine after the first 100 miles. Ride it like you stole it. Breakin periods are up to much debate. I go by the ride it in the first miles the way you'll ride it for the life of the bike rule. Never had a problem yet.
Means you could have done that 1000 miles ago!!Just coming home and hit the freeway with no traffic and looked down and realize the odometer said 1,000. I turned to my wife and told her you know what that means, so she proceed to hang on tight and I opened the bike up for the first time.
