Bike stalled and won't F'n start!!!

So I tried to order my CCT from bikebandit (I've ordered from them before) a while back when I decided to change it since it probably failed. Well it wasn't in Stock so I did some more searching and decided to order from partzilla. Have been waiting since last Friday for items to ship and got an email today that part of my order is back ordered. Guess which part? Yeah, my f'n tensioner. Now estimated ship is may 26th. Son of a beeeotch! I'm pissed now, have already been down over a week and now another 2 at least. Anyone know of any other parts places that may carry the cam tensioner? I don't want a used one and that's all I seem to find on freebay.

I'm not familiar with them, but I did stumble upon it a while back. Boats.net oddly seems to carry motorcycle parts. I guess if you're going to carry parts for their marine products, it's not that far a leap to offer parts for everything else.

Yeah, I think I came across them in my searches. I'll take a look or go to a manual cam chain tensioner. Tired of not riding.

Other than that, all I can think is to try and haggle with the dealership. I know the local one here doesn't budge a cent, but the one I bought the bike from in Washington was always keen to make a deal.

I ordered from the boat.net place, but they don't have it in Stock either. So all 3 that carry it don't have it in Stock. It is supposed to be ready by 5/19 so it is sooner than the other place. If they delay longer I think I'm going with a manual chain tensioner.

I've noticed quite a few items for our bike are on back order. I'm wondering if they're winding down production, or if there's really that many people replacing obscure parts.

I'll look when I get home. Only one I've seen that actually says whether it's in Stock is bikebandit.com other ones don't tell you until a while after you order. Grrrrr

Seems that none of the places keep this part in stock. They all order them from Yamaha as soon as you order online and that is the reason there's a wait. I did contact another place since expected ship is May 19th at the earliest. If they actually have it in stock I will cancel yet another order. LOL! At this point maybe I should buy two just in case I ever need another.

Well it's far worse then a tensioner going bad. I took her apart today and noticed as soon as I started pulling the valve cover off what the problem was. The cam gear bolts either backed out or sheared off (I think it was one bolt, but was hard to see and I was pissed) and it cracked the cylinder head case right near the cam gear. So now I need a new cylinder head. I don't think there is any other damage. Timing slipped shutting down the engine and cam gear is separate from cams so not likely anything got into cylinders. Trying to figure out how hard cylinder head swap is going to be. I found some used ones on Freebay. No way I'm paying $1100 for a new head. Found a bunch for under $200. I'm just not sure how hard it's going to be or how to tell if there is more damage that I'm not seeing. Definitely need to check the chain to make sure it didn't get banged up from the bolt head. FML!!! It does look like the cylinder head may be swappable without pulling the engine. Although I have not confirmed this. If it can be, then I'll do the work myself, if not it will sit a while and then make it to the shop. I dropped the place that inspects my bike an email to see what they thought as far as pricing (if they could even do it since they're a Victory dealer). The woman I deal with there is really great so guess I'll have to wait. Marthy is out of the country in Italy, hoping he's home soon. If anyone would be able to answer these questions it would be Marthy. :iconbeer::banghead:

Bummer! The cylinder is aluminium isn't it? You might be able to get it welded up if the crack isn't in to bad of a spot. There's a chance pistons and valves meet, but you probably wouldn't know without removing the head.

Don't think it's repairable. Little chunk missing out of it. Not worth the money and headache of even trying. I found a used head for $164 plus free shipping. Just don't know how easy the swap will be. Other problem I forsee, I think the exhaust cam bolts may have both broke. So if I try to set tdc it will probably not turn with crank. Man, I need Marthy back. I'm hoping I can swap the head on the bike and not have to remove the engine.

Well originally I thought the cam chain tensioner failed so I ordered one which was a project since no one keeps them in stock. Last night after ripping the bike apart and getting to the cams I realized it was far worse. May not be horrible if it's possible to swap the cylinder heads on the bike without removing the engine. I've found some used low mileage cylinder heads on ebay. Really just waiting on Marthy to get his opinion, but he's in Italy at the moment. So yeah this sucks. Riding season is really just getting going and my bike is disassembled in my garage.
I'll call you went I get back to base camp. Nothing to swap... buy some hi-temp JB weld, 2 can of brake clean and a good oil change kit... well I suggest 2. One with cheap oil just to ride for 20-50 miles and dump the oil.
Get some green locktite... bolt should not have back down...
This part of the head fonction is to protect the chain and keep the oil inside. Might need to patch the engine from the outside.

You are definitely the man. I really need to check the cam chain to make sure it didn't get f'd up. If I do decide to just swap cylinder heads can it be done on the bike? I will post pics here or text them, which ever is easier. I need a new valve cover gasket, new cam bolts at the least. Piece of the bolt was on top of chain when I opened it up. Chain is still tight and not broken though. Gonna definitely use LOCKTITE!!! Just realized you said email so email it will be. Might give me peace of mine to put a new cylinder head on there, but may tried the weld first. Thanks for peace of mind.

ugh, this is terrible news, and right into riding season.
Any idea what started it all? Was the fz6 cam too much for it, or some other possible cause... I know it sucks regardless, but just curious if you can tell how it all started
