I've always made a change whenever my gut told me to, and I always ended up making more money. The reality is, if you stay at a company more than 5-6 years without a promotion, you're going to be under paid, unless you suck at your job. If you're good at what you do and you've been there for 7 years, you can command more $ than you're getting today. Just be careful to make sure you make the right move to the right company. No matter how bad it is where you are now, there are places out there that are worse.
