6r, ninja 650, monster 696, street triple, f800

Don't all the Japanese vs Euro shootouts end the same? 'We liked the _____ Japanese model, but the ______ Euro model just stirred our soul'. Same could be said of BMW cars vs Japanese cars, etc. I buy Japanese stuff cause they make great reliable stuff, I don't like headaches and am willing to forgoe some 'flavor' to have reliability - and, yes, I would likely choose a Lexus over a BMW car for the same reason.

This had me excited at first. I thought it ran on diesel, not was designed by the douchbags at Diesel. :(

At least there will be an easier way to tell if someone's a douchbag before you even see their frosted tips and $500 pair of jeans.

Thanks... I got a good belly laugh out of that...

Talking about diesel I'd love to get my hands on a military spec diesel powered klr!!! The 650 I have now is already unstoppable I can only imagine what the diesel would be like!!!

As far as the article goes I think it was spot on and for their comparison, yes I also think they chose the right bikes. They were looking for something under ~$10,000ish that would appeal to beginner AND intermediate female riders, while being sporty and something you could live with everyday. and all the testers were female plus it was wrote by a female editor, and that is the conclusion that THEY came too for THEIR likes. Now if the comparison was to only be for beginner bikes then I can understand the complaints about the duc and s3 being involved but it wasn't.

Me too I got excited a bit then... WTF??? It was too good to be true! 100HP diesel Ducati for 13K Can you imagine 125MPG bike with 100HP!!!

Wonder if you could stop by MickeyDs and fill it up with fry grease?:D
Don't know if I have enough fuel to make it to the station, grab a bottle of cooking oil and add a few ounces.:D
Nice ride though, I would buy one.

I tried to purchase a r6 but since I was only 18 at the time I didn't have enough credit :(

I was going to purchase a Triumph Street Triple before I purchased the FZ6R, nice bike, but like I said before I did some lurking on the forums, here and there, here all I saw was advise on mods etc, no what do I do now something broke, on the Triumph forum it was a different story, lots of post about what to do because something broke, fell off, leaking or came lose. That was enough to sway me to the FZ6R.
So Triumph is fast, but I will stick with something that stays together over fast. :D

I lurked on the Street Triple forums before I bought mine. If you look, most of the dates of the major problem posts are almost always 2009 and earlier. The only nagging issues seem to be with the Regulator/Rectifier (or R/R) and there's ways to tell if you have a potentially defective one. They've switched to a different model and supplier on the new ones (like mine) but even if you have an older one, the failure rate is something like 5% to 10%. If you're worried about it, it's only a couple hundred bucks to put a reliable one in. Big whoop in the grand scheme of things.

A lot of the other issues (leaks and whatnot) have been resolved, or have simple fixes. Nothing that concerns me. Often these issues, like the coolant leaks are due to the dealerships not doing a thourough check of the bike and tightening all the bolts and screws to spec. Most of the coolant leaks are solved with a slotted screwdriver tightening the hose clamps. Oh woe is me.
Okay, if you say so, but the history of one brand is quite well documented as less than stellar.
I mean I am sure since you ride a Triumph you are quite bias toward it, anyways why are you here on a Yamaha site, oh I see you own a FZ6R?
See highlighted, yeah and a couple hundred goes a long ways on mods, heck you can buy a Martin R6 exhaust for that.
Seriously, downplay it all you want! (shake head) :bitchslap:

He used to own a 6r, I don't own one either does that mean I shouldnt be hear either...

Bottom line all bikes have some quirks, some more than others but unless you own one how do you know for sure. The newer triumphs are great bikes, I hate the look of the new s3 but it is still a great machine.

The new S3's *are* great bikes... I did quite a bit of research prior to my FZ6R buy, and it boiled down to the Fizzer or an S3. It was basically price, and slightly more aggressive ergos (or what I perceived to be more of a forward lean on the S3) that made the difference for me... However, they both filled most of the prerequisites I was looking for (based on reviews, blogs, etc.).

I'd heard about some of the issues on the older Triumph Street Triples, but also understood that they'd been long since corrected. And naked is cool... (but not a criteria for me).
