I had the same esperience with the R6. I'm a big guy, and it was just too cramped, but the R1 was the most comfortable sport bike I've ever tried. Still hoping to get one in the future!

Keep it. It's not hard to "store" for a year, you'll be able to think about riding it while you're in Korea, and it'll be easy to lube, gas and ride once you get home.
