Marthy is the truth!

I got my Marthy exhaust on less then a month after buying my bike. Because of angry neighbors and a migrane condition I've kept the silecner in. Maybe only rode with it out a handful of times and didn't hit it hard trying to keep the volume down. Silencer in, I've swapped back and forth between stock and Marthy maps and never really felt much difference. I've been daily driving it like this almost 2 years now.

This weekend pulled the silencer out. BRAAAAAAAAP! The thing moves! The extra power is very noticeable. And just like that, my bike feels brand new again.

Guess I need to get some good ear plugs and push my bike up the street before I turn her on in the morning. The power is worth it.

Yeah, I usually leave between 6 and 7am for work, and when I have evening rehearsals I usually get home between 10 and 11pm. Because I'm in a townhouse, my garage ceiling is actually my neighbor's floor and she has a young baby.

They even don't like the silencer in, so silencer out is a whole different ball game. Like I said, I'll be pushing my bike down the street and getting out of there as soon as it starts.

I only put my dB killer in for inspection. LOL! I don't think it's really that much louder than with the dB killer, but felt power is definitely better on the butt dyno.

There's a big difference in HP at top end without the DBK. No one ever complain about my exhausts noise. If they ever told me to pull that $hit off I would have done it with a smile. Not sure they would have appreciate my bike running strait pipe? LOL

Hey Mr.T, next time you put the DBK back on give a shot to my Danmoto map. Just curious...

Just in case some of you don't know, there's a map especially just for the Danmoto set up. Tune for stock airbox, exhaust swap only.

Btw Marthy, now that I have your attention, I heard that the airbox mod (drilling holes, not doing the different runner length) can lead to a lean condition before 4k and above 9k. Is this true? Any idea if your maps have enough added fuel to compensate for this?

I've got a spare airbox. I know some people drill holes, but I cut more than half of the box OFF ENTIRELY. I don't have 30 minutes to myself at home to try this out for at least a week, but I'm gonna jump on the band wagon and see how it goes!

I leave at 6am as well and just sitting at idle is no louder than my daughter's scion tc turbo with one of those huge mufflers. Initial startup and Rev is loud, but worth while. It's definitely a little louder than with the dB killer, but not by much. I think the dB killers are only rated to drop the dB by 5 or 10 dB. To me just sounds deeper without the dB killer. Love it under hard acceleration, probably why my mileage is lower now. LOL

The RevB map should be fine. I tried back and forth and I didn't notice much different other than better mid to top end power.

yes lol. I still have my stock exhaust on and just went for my first 600 mile service...now just gotta wait for my bonus check for the exhaust and power commander

I try to stay at low RPM and not rev the engine too much when going through a neighborhood or at night. Hopefully keep the noise down to a min. I liked the stock exhaust at first then I realized that cars couldn't even hear/see me coming. I'm not trying to be obnoxious just loud enough to be heard when I'm coming up on a car.

No, you're not the only one who likes the quiet/stock exhaust.

With respect to people being about "me" - who do you think people with modified exhaust are thinking about? Awesome that they don't want to disturb their neighbors, what about everyone else they ride near?

I live on 3 acres off the road a ways and my property borders a townhouse development. The guy in the one that borders my yard has a harley that he keeps in a shed and starts about once per hour. He should be glad I don't have a harley or I'd park next to his f'n fence and rev all night long. I hate any quiet exhaust (car, truck, bike). My Z28 had duals with SLP high flow turbo mufflers, my GMC had dual flowmasters, my hemi ram has flowmasters, and my bike has a viper. All of the systems on my cars and trucks improved power and gas mileage as well as sounding like music to my ears. Stock exhaust on anything I own just means I don't have the money to upgrade the exhaust yet. I'm not a prick to sit and rev my bike or truck, but that sound under hard acceleration :rockon:

My buddy (he was Air Force) while I was Navy in WV had a 70 Ford 3/4 ton fully restored and lifted 12" with some 35's and dual straights with race readies (the dump pipes you're referring to). He opened them up one day and drove on base and that was the last time he was ever able to do that again. It was insanely loud. You'd think a jet was coming down the road. Helps that his 460 was bored to a 502. LOL!

Surefire EP4 Sonic Defender Ear Protection

Best ear plugs I have ever owned. They really work awesome. I have the clear version of the EP4s which help them to not stand out as much in my ears but they work great for me. Most people are good with the medium size.

Best few bucks I ever spent on amazon really. They have saved my hearing a lot....
