Drool! Finally! Funny thing is my friend has a GoPro since I recommended it to him. He was going to order 2 more today because of special pricing from RidersDiscount.

What special pricing? I went to their website and they want 299 for the Motorsport 1080p version. If they have special pricing can you please post the link I'm thinking to get a second one. Thanks.

Rider'sDiscount is a forum vendor at the R6-Forum. A lot of website sponsors such as tobefast.com or motomummy etc give special pricing on R6 Forum members. Not sure if I can post it here but PM me and I can give you an idea.

Indeed the HD Hero

And I just called for special pricing on their Arai Corsair V helmets and asked about when they're getting this in stock. Said about after march.

Just got the lcd backpac ....been using the heck out of my camera this season on the sled. I see it getting used a lot on the bike this upcoming riding season. Finally over the learning curve, got this thing dial in....excellent camera but made me upgrade my laptop, 23" lcd ips monitor, vegas software, extra sd cards....$$$$ crazy expensive hobbies I have....

My god, just used my GoPro today and almost lost it!!

Had it on the suction cup mount on my tank and it fell off while recording. Didn't notice it for about 20 seconds then I looked down and noticed it wasn't there. Was shocked to think that it fell down but then I look on my left arm and there it was laying on there. Took it, unziped my jacket and shoved it in my jacket while riding and pulled over to the next exit.

Too close! Probably because I let my bike sit and there was a lot of dirt/dust on it. Says to use the suction cup on a clean surface, still... I'm going to use the 3M adhesive instead and stick it on my helmet.

yeah, i made a homemade tether for mine using a wire fishing leader. I threaded the leader around the hinge pin in a loop than connect that to a fixed point using another leader. They come in different lengths so depending where and what I am using it on. Its worked great all season on the snowmobile trails. I would never find that thing if a tree branch snapped it off the helmet. I have had the 3m let go too.

Dang that's sweet!

I like the profile of the Contour 1080 as it is a lot more aerodynamic on top of a helmet (or on the side) at 100 mph. Otherwise that GoPro is sooooo cool and the mounts are so much nicer than the Contour. I didn't see how much battery the LCD screen uses but I carry spare batteries anyway. I have 2 of the Contour 1080 cams so I'm locked into that product. I'm almost kicking myself here guys......

They just released this flush mount and I bought a 2 pack. One for my helmet and one for the rear cowl of my race bike. Because the lens swivels 90 degrees on the cam, I can still get the video upright and not have the thick old style biscuit helmet mount. No lcd screen for the Contour tho...I have to bring a laptop....

Was thinking of doing this. A "safety wire". Any ideas on where to attach it if I attach the GoPro to my helmet?

I attach mine to the one of the rings on my chin strap. So basically around the hinge pin is one small leader looped. Then another longer one going to the chin strap. I wear my mount on the side.

The sell a mix bag of different lengths in the fishing dept at wal mart. There is probably other ways to use of even a camera cord, something you can loop. Mine is pretty primitive but gives me peace of mind.

Did a little bit of research and apparently the adhesive used on the mounts is 3M VHB 4991. Which is "one of the stickest" types. A lot of people say that they had to use a screw driver or razor blade to get it off. Also, since it's on the helmet, the sun will heat and kind of melt the adhesive to the helmet as well.

The suction cup for my friends on the other hand I'm going to use some #60 or #80 fishing line to attach it to something. Something about the bar on the bottom of the casing when you snap it on to change the case has a small gap for this.

OH and I finally found out what the orange or white doohicky thing is in the GoPro package and what that stupid clicking sound is on the video.

Look at the way they do it on the Contour cam. It has a loop built in like most cell phones and a looped nylon cord is slipped through and passed through the loop and tightened. There are male and female plastic quick disconnects to remove the cam easily. Should it fall off the mount or the rotating mount falls off, the cam doesn't go bye bye....

I've been small rope until i got some paracord which is small and very strong, so that's been being used as a tether on the car and will most likely on the bike when the weather cooperates :)

true I know the 3m sticky stuff is top notch. I did not prep my helmet or let it adhere properly the first time using a sticky mount. The camera came off the top of my helmet on the trail. By some stroke of luck i felt it come off & saw it in my mirrors with no one behind me. Plus the snow was soft & groomed. Lets just say that is when I started to properly clean the surface & let the sticky mount cure for 24hrs. Then added the wire tether.

Thanks for the tip on the orange doo hicky. I did not know that is what it was for and the noise was annoying. Already added it my mount.

Found several tricks to get rid of rattles and wind noise on the GoPro HD using good quality 3M electrical tape. Shitty stuff melts in heat and the adhesive gets all over the place. I recommend 3M™ Tartan™ Vinyl Insulating Tape 1710

1) Put a piece of electrical tape over the shutter button. If you shake the GoPro near your ear you'll hear the shutter assembly rattle. Place your finger on the button and shake again....no rattle.

2) Put a small piece of electrical tape on your mounts. Cut your piece of tape shorter than the center ridge. Make sure there are no bubbles. Use your fingernails to get all flat. (note - new recent mounts are not manufactured like the old non-HD ones. You can tell by texture and quality.)

3) Put electrical tape over both of your mics. Top and side. Reduces even more wind.
