A quick google search netted a bunch of hits with other people having the same problem with various bikes.. Here's a good example.
I have an appointment next week. The service guy said "we'll collect the information and send it to Yamaha and see what they say." I'll post back what they decide. It's kind of superficial, but I'm pretty superficial as wellDid we ever get the answer whether or not the dealer foot the bill for this? I hope you can get it fixed man.
I just got a call from the dealer - the Yamaha rep happened to be there when he was looking at my bike and they're going to cover replacing the meter cover. I think partly because it was a Yamaha windscreen (clear double bubble).I have an appointment next week. Excellent! Glad to hear your being taken care of.I just got a call from the dealer - the Yamaha rep happened to be there when he was looking at my bike and they're going to cover replacing the meter cover. I think partly because it was a Yamaha windscreen (clear double bubble).
Sad - it happened again. Much less melting than last time - maybe because it was only 65 degrees outside. Maybe I need to park somewhere elseAwesome. Glad to hear it. Just make sure that you tint the windscreen or hide it in the shade or something after all that work is done...I am sure you don't want a repeat...
No, I didn't get the tinted one (yet, but maybe I should?). I have the clear double bubble.ack, did it happen with a tinted screen???
sorry to hear about this.... again.
All summer long, I was throwing my winter pants over the screen when I parked so it wasn't a problem. I stopped when it became winter, thinking "there's no sun, so it shouldn't be a problem." Oh well.ack... i would think that since it happened once + you sorta figured out the cause that you would remedy it by modifying the screen or parking in the shade... <lol>
well, i hope yamaha replaces it a second time...
