HID turns on and off?

Hey guys, I've been having this issue since yesterday.. My XJ6 has an hid headlight kit installed by the previous owner, don't know specs or brand... Yesterday, after a couple of high (10k+) revving, the headlight started to flicker for some seconds and then came back to normal by itself.

Today, I noticed the same thing during some normal riding but also the headlight turned off completely a number of times until I revved the engine a bit which made it flicker back to life. Anyway the problem persisted up until I came back home. This whole thing happened regardless of the revs.

Any ideas what this could be?

My first guess would be a loose connection. Have to take the front fairings off and the inner dash pieces to look at all the wiring.

Agreed, likely a loose connection.

You might stick volt meter on the battery at each state;
Off for two hours or more: 12.85 to 13.00v
Idle: 13 but very dependent on batt state i.e. fully charged?
2500 RPM: 14 - 14.5
5000 RPM: 14 - 14.5

The reason is although the bike may run voltages over 14.5 and below 10.5, the ballast may drop out.
