DJ/Dance Music Thread

Wow... I seem to spend ages setting up my cue points and making sure the songs work together, but sometimes I still get it wrong and the transition just doesn't work. I can't imagine doing all that on the fly? But then again, I have so much prep done before hand, with my cues and loops with notes on what to do for each, that doing the mix is actually quite boring.

A song starts, and I get the next one ready to go 10 seconds later and sit there waiting for the cue. Even worse if I am coming in hard without any fades etc, and have set up the fade in/out cues, it does it all for me (shhh.. this is supposed to be hard).

Most of what I have done is around 128bpm. Songs that aren't I still usually just play at that speed to no ill affects (usually have keylock on). That last mix I was trying to challenge myself with this. It starts as 110 and finishes at 131. Biggest change is in the start of the 3rd song I am bringing the temp up from 114 to 124 in about 16 bars, but I seemed to have gotten away with it (at 7:25 if interested). It is bit of a build up sequence so it works anyway.

I threw down some critique on your mix bro. Nothing critical just my opinions. I really enjoyed your mix. I have a guy I work with every day who has been DJ'ing for like ten years. He always gives it to me straight. Just wanted to do the same with you. Keep working it, don't put too much time into it just have fun. If you want to throw some tracks into that Dropbox cloud feel free and I'll check 'em out. Love what you are doing and the fact that someone on here is as passionate about music as I am!! Love you bro, keep up the good work!

Appreciate the feedback. Can I get you to do the same for the Droids one? That is one that did have time and effort put into it and probably a bit more representative of what I normally do. I know it is a bit longer but it makes a huge difference to have someone else point out the dodgy bits that I don't really hear. Anything positive is appreciated too.

I'm kinda the same. I like breaks, but not really dubstep. I like a little in a mix but a whole set does little for me. Hardstyle was a big thing over here about 10 years ago. When I started doing my own mixes recently I grabbed some tunes as it took me back to my old days going to doofs. The only thing is the genre hasn't seemed to change one bit over this time. Admittedly some of the songs are new mixes of my old faves from back in the day (ie Twisted). Here's my mix I did....

More into Electro & Progressive House now. Progressive seems to be Trance evolved with a bit more banging which I really like.

Did you listen to the track I posted Brah? Yea it hasnt changed if you keep listening to nu-style Ie. Scantraxx, fusion, saifam, q-dance BS....

New mix!!!!! This one is for a competition for newbs on a local DJ forum I have just come across (pretty good forum too).

Please give it a listen, comment and like. It is my normal progressive house, but a harder edge. The competition required a half hour mix, so I kinda went straight for the harder, end of set type of tunes. It really does has a high energy feel to it..... Despite the fact I kick this off with an Elton John track!
