2 Million Biker Ride for 9/11 - In your face, D.C.

Well, the Sons of Liberty club put together a biker's ride through D.C for 9/11.

Like the Muslim march, scheduled for the same day, the Sons of Liberty applied for proper permits, and went through proper channels.

The Muslims were approved, the Sons of Liberty were denied (big surprise... not).

So, the Sons of Liberty decided to do it anyway... they will be law-abiding; will stop at lights, stop signs, and for pedestrians. However, instead of a 2-hour ride in and out, it will now be an all day ride through D.C. (YESSSS!!).
The planned rider attendee number has swelled to TWO MILLION riders!
This will be filmed and covered in its entirety by American Spirit TV... kudos, guys...

I envy anyone in the area that can make it, and would have been proud to be a part of that ride...

2 million? Great numbers but highly unlikely.its hard to get a permit for any kind of riding in massive numbers. Sons of liberty are not the most government friendly organization so its no wonder they were not approved.

It has absolutely no relevance whether or not the Sons of Liberty are government friendly. The permit was for a "no-stop" ride, so they would continue in a parade fashion and not stop at lights, or stop signs, and be in and out in a couple of hours.

*Now*, however, they will stop at EVERY stop sign, EVERY light, EVERY pedestrian walkway, and they will be thronging the city *all day long*, as a result. And THIS they can do perfectly legally... Unless D.C. wants to continue shredding the Constitution, and deny them their 1st Amendment rights.

Bottom line... whatever puppet denied them their permit, actually *prolonged* the biker rally within the D.C. city limits... Gotta love the irony...

P.S. Many of these riders are the same that have been keeping those nutjob Westboro Baptist Church members away from the military funerals they've been desecrating...

Well they can ride no problem, but when u openly go against the government, it should be no suprise that your permit would not go through. According to that article, they knew they were not going to get it. Hopefully they dont get any stupid idiots in that ride to cause problems, because thats what the powers that be would love.

I don't know of a major city in the country that issues permits for "drive through" events. Parades have a starting point and an ending point, and you need to be able to explain how everybody is going to arrive and depart without screwing up traffic for miles around, how people who need to get across the parade route are going to do it, etc. "Just block a route for us all the way across the city" isn't going to get permitted in any large city.

Every city I know requires months of planning and significant deposits/security arrangements for any major gathering. Most won't allow more than one big event on the same day, and it's usually "first-come, first-served."

Neither of these groups is likely to get even 100,000 to show up. Just like all the previous "Million XXX" events.

About as many as there will be overheated "marchers". Which is to say... zero.

This is a great example of a guy with no following trying to pull a publicity stunt and a bunch of idiots on the other side giving him exactly the publicity he wants. He didn't apply to close streets because he knew he wouldn't have gotten the permits either. The bikers DID apply to close streets, because if they had asked for a simple off-street counter-rally they would have gotten the permit and gotten just as much attention, which is to say none at all.

My guess is the AMPAC guy and his 177 Facebook followers are going to have a nice little Kumbaya moment on the mall and in front of the White House, say the Park Police lied about the hundreds of thousands of people who showed up to support them (somehow the Park Police always lie about the numbers if you ask the event organizers), blame the establishment for wrecking their plans and claim a moral victory. The bikers will get somewhere between a few hundred and a couple thousand, also claim that the establishment held them back by not blocking a dedicated route for them across town, and also claim a moral victory. The national news will ignore it completely and the local news will give each side 30 seconds after longer reports about events involving the political big shots as well as the established ones at Arlington National Cemetery and the Pentagon. (Unless there's an actual big story that day, in which case both sides get zero coverage anywhere.)

I could be in DC in under 30 minutes but I just started at a new school. Work til 4pm and back-to-school-night at 6:30pm... just can't swing it.

I'm all for group rides and everything the ride stands for, so don't misread this next comment, but DC traffic is a nightmare already. Adding 2 million bikers? Hell, even adding a thousand is going to be crazy. It won't be a "ride" as much as lots of bikers stopped in the middle of the street clogging up the roads. There's gonna be a lot of pissed off people that have nothing to do with the ride, protests, or 9/11.
