that plus HD needed a new trainer bike for the Riders Edge program (now HD Riding Academy) after they dumped Buell a couple of years ago. The 500 fits the bill. I am looking forward to using these in the HD program, they will be a lot better then the Blast. The 750 should be a great entry...
there is no "box" in this course and no focusing on any slow speed skills. It is an advanced course focusing on self assessment, advanced techniques in cornering, swerving and braking. Students use their own motorcycles.
More importantly, you are a good parent by showing him the value of setting a positive goal and putting forth the effort to achieve something he values. What an important life lesson. Well done.
ok, the box used in the MSF Basic RiderCourse is 20x60, a little longer than 2 spaces.
Also, it really is not a figure 8, it is two u-turns, one in each direction than out.
Most people talk a lot and practice the u-turns a lot - probably the least important skill in the course. Practice...
I just like to get off the bike for a moment and move around a bit, get things flowing. Speaking of which, a lot of times it is a restroom break as well.
I am usually not for any government control, but I think, because most of us lack self control and don't have much personal discipline, the only answer right now is to electronically block the incoming/outgoing cell signal except for certain emergency situations by some sort of proximity device...
Congrats. Enjoy the ride. Some suggestions:
* Take another course in the spring - maybe the Experienced RiderCourse or even the Advanced RiderCourse as a tune-up for the riding season.
* Gets some Gloves, pants and boots to match your very nice jacket and helmet. Maybe Santa could help with...
the point is what I calll useable power. On the track... that's one thing, but for a street rider, especially going over your favorite mountain with technical turns, how much power do you need? How much can a street rider even effectively handle anyway? Unless you are a professional racer...
On Sunday, we went across 64 to Murphy and down to Young Harris then over the mountain from Elijay to Chatsworth... saw much of the same. we live in a beautiful part of the world.
Great picture, btw.
hard to tell from a picture but it looks like you have a lot of tread left. The key is answering MichaelInVenice queasions above. You have an '09, are these original tires? Check the age of the tire (look on the sidewall for the DOT ID code; the last 4 digits are the week and year of...
Yes, he sure did and that was my point. I answered his question by telling him what I personally wear and noted that his needs may be different. My overall answer to his question was, whatever his choice, make sure it is motorcycle specific. Some of the things in this particular thread do not...
motorcycle specific fully CE armored textile or leather over-pants works for me, personally. I commute during the week so that option is more convenient for me. Lots of good threads on this forum and others with some great advice. Must be comfortable and fit well. The undergarments like Bohn...
A few concerns:
No mention about using Crach Pads for Street Motorcycling, only wintersports. A premature dismount on a motorcycle is at a much higher rate of speed than snow boarding. Even comparing ski-mobiling to motorcycling is a lot different i.e. sliding on snow vs. pavement.
With one...
looking at this years highlight it amazes me, once again, how close the spectators are to the action with virtually no barriers for protection. Exciting for everyone.
ok then did the 4-wheeler just take the curve wide or did he/she swerve into the motorcycle. If the 4-wheeler was going wide, the motorcyclist could/should have picked that up a lot sooner and adjusted. Again, hard to tell with the rearward facing camera, but it could very well have been a...
wonder what country that took place - one that rides on left? or is 4-wheeler going the wrong way on a one-way.
can't tell for sure, but it does not look like a blind curve. the motorcyclist should have seen it coming way before it happened. That leads me to believe that the 4-wheeler...
