I put a few mods on over the weekend and wanted to share:

TBR Exhaust - black series aluminum canister
TBR JB Pro - Map 2 (stock filter, TBR exhaust)
PowderKeg Racing Block-off Plates
Direct Wire (Escort Radar)

The exhaust sounds amazing. It is loud and deep, I have yet to try the silencer that came with it. It was an odd feeling installing the JB. I am use to non-plug 'n play systems that have to be wired in parallel with the stock ecu (haltech on a protege). Nice change of pace!

I do have a couple of questions I'm hoping you guys can help me with:

1) The passenger seat seems to "wobble" more than it did before. I unscrewed the locking mechanism in order to feed the tuner harnesses through. However, I tightened the lock back down and there doesn't seem to have any adjustment to it. If I grab one of the front corners of the passenger seat, I can lift it up enough to squeeze a few fingers underneath it. The lock is clicking securely, the 2 plastic pins are fitting into the holes correctly, the rubber mounting feet are not obstructed, and the two hooks in the back slide under perfectly fine. Seeing as the lock is the only thing preventing upward movement at the front, that must be the culprit?

2) The bike fires right up and doesn't have any issues when I rev it up. However, I do notice that the idle is somewhat rough. I'm assuming this is from an out the box tune from TBR?

3) I thought I previously read that the air pump harness for the AIS system remains unplugged after removing the system. I have my harness unplugged and zip tied out of the way. Has this caused anyone problems in the long run with CELs or any other issues?

4) I've read some people calibrate the throttle position through the tuner. I thought you didn't have to mess with anything (plug and play). Is this an issue?

Thanks for the help. I included some pictures from my phone.

Edit: A few people have requested a How-To so I put one together. If you have any questions, please let me know.

That is a good question! I like it though.
By bike theme is all black so I may do that to help black it out more. :)

You wrap or coat exhaust components so that they retain the heat. There may be a performance effect and/or you may prevent other components from heat saturation.

From the wrap manufacturer I used:

"Using motorcycle exhaust wrap maintains more heat in the exhaust system, this makes exhaust gases hotter, that allows the exhaust gas to exit the system faster! This increases exhaust scavenging, pulling intake and exhaust gases through the system faster, helping to lower intake temperatures: that equals more horsepower. In some cases, the scavenging is so much, you might need to re-jet your carbs. Cobra Skin wrap also reduces radiant heat damage and can lower exhaust pipe heat by as much as 50%. The lower exhaust heat can make you, the rider more comfortable, suffer less fatigue, and allow you to enjoy your ride longer. Cobra Skin exhaust heat wrap can withstand a real world rating 1200F continuous and 2000F intermittent."

I have used header wrap and JET-HOT coatings in the past. As a matter of fact, I have put over 700 dollars into coating my downpipe, manifold, turbo exhaust housing, and hot pipe on my project protege. There is a ton of real estate and coating actually makes a performance and under hood heat management difference.

With such an insignificant exhaust on the FZ6R, I doubt there are performance gains. However, I'm hoping it will help with the excessive heat rising when at a stop. Also, I like the look of the black header wrap.

Coating is easier and performs better (not to mention you don't have to worry about water). However, i did not want to spend a couple hundred dollars at Jet-Hot, I didn't know how they would handle the non-removable flanges, and I'm a fan of the look of header wrap on bikes.

I finished up mounting the radar. I ended up hard-wiring an Escort Passport 8500 x50 (black version). I am obsessive so I "bolted" the radar to the windscreen (it can't fall off!). I also bought the Marc Parnes LED light strip and mounted that above the detector. I tried getting the setup as clean as possible, but at the end of the day, you have to deal with the cords. Also, I had to make a plus sign pattern with the velcro for the LED housing. Since the windscreen curves, 1 strip of horizontal velcro did not touch in the middle. Pictures attached...

Can anybody comment on the questions I proposed in my initial post? It would be much appreciated (mainly the seat).

if ya see in the picture below, part of my factory system is painted black so i think the header wrap would clean things up a bit. I have heard of different shields and wraps but i dont see it very often in the diesel world, may have to order enough to do my 4" down pipe coming off the turbos for my truck and my headers on the bike :)

As for your fourth question in original thread regarding throttle calibration. I also have the tbr exhaust and jb pro. I read someone else had an issue with theirs not reading 100% at full throttle so I plugged my bike into my laptop and checked it and mine read 100% and worked perfect without alterations.

As for the header wrap I have a red and black theme going on my raven bike and thought if I wrapped my headers in red it would look sick!! I just didn't know if there were any adverse effects. Is the wrap easy to apply even though my exhaust is already installed? You mentioned something about water...would it getting wet make it peel? What's the approximate price for the wrap?

Go on my webpage under tech support and download Sport RevA Map. That should fix your problem?

Thanks for the heads up, I will check it out.

Before I coated my downpipe, I had it header wrapped. It worked fairly well but decided to upgrade to the Jet-Hot Extreme 2500 degF coating (a bit excessive...).

I'm no expert on wraps, but I believe people can run into issues when their exhaust is mild steel. The additional heat retention may cause issues. As for the water, the wrap can retain moisture and that can have a negative effect on the pipes. I would suggest doing a quick search on it online.

You can wrap below the collectors with it installed (I believe) but I'm thinking it would be rather difficult to wrap the individual headers with them bolted on. It's a royal pain in the ass to wrap it even when it's off!

I bought "Cobra Wrap" from heatshield products (part # 380013). It is 2" x 50'. I used a good majority of the roll. It's about 45 bucks for 1 roll on amazon.

I initially tried using black stainless steel locking ties, but apparently the ones I ordered were garbage and would not stay as tight as I needed. You can order black hose clamps (worm clamps), those will work well. I did not have time to wait, so I went to home depot looking for heavy black wire. They sell a huge roll of rebar tie wire (black!) for 5 bucks. It worked perfect and I used as much as I wanted.

It is much easier to do with 2 people, but if you can't find someone to help, use zip ties to hold the wrap in place until the final fastener (locking tie, worm clamp, or wire) will be put in place.

When I get home from work this evening, I will add some pictures and type out a rough how-to. I was asked in a PM about it so I figured I would post it in the thread.

As promised, I put together a short how-to for the header wrap. However, it is 1.29 MB (PDF). Is there any way for a moderator to allow individual attachments that exceed the allowed size?

I put the PDF on Google documents and added the link to my original post.

I finally went for a spin the other night without the silencer...incredibly loud! Since the wrap insulates the pipes, there is a good chance it amplifies it as well. I was running on the TBR map, definitely noticed a performance gain.
