Here's an article someone found on the sister site... and that's what I reply...

Thanks for leaving a link so we can tell you what we think too… First of all, bike don’t crash, don’t kill people or any of the other stuff that you read on your Google search engine. I’m quite sure if you pro rate cars vs. motorcycle just about as many car accidents involve major injuries as motorcycle. Yes, there’s just as many % of idiot driving cars then bike!
Your article doesn’t even make sense in a way. The fact that 15% of deadly accident involve driver under the influence doesn’t mean that we need to arrest people that drink Starbuck coffee or Coca Cola because they’re responsible for the other 85%!
I believe there’s bigger battle to be fought out there. What about cell phone use while driving? In my book, this is more dangerous than DUI. Do you really want to know how many close call I had in the last month from people driving around talking or texting without paying attention at what they are doing? Doesn’t matter if I drive a car, a bike or even just running… yes I almost got run over few weeks ago at an intersection while running. She was so busy texting that she accelerate right when I was in front of her. If it were a kid instead of me she would have kill the kid.
I do agree with you in some area. Most of us in the motorcyclist community praise for AGATT (All Gear All The Time) No helmet, short and flip flop are not what real rider do. Protective gear is a must! I do wear them all the time, even in Florida where it’s hotter than hot! One more important thing too is buying the proper bike for your use and skills. Going to get yourself a 180 HP Super Sport bike for your first cycle is not smart. Regulation should be in place to avoid things like that to happen. Spending 8 hours in a parking lot doing circle doesn’t give you enough experience to ride a bike that is capable of 175 MPH all day long!
At the end of the day, doesn’t matter what you are driving. What matter is what’s going on between the seat and steering wheel or the handlebar. Most motorcyclist are good driver. Being aware of what’s going on around your surrounding is a matter of survival again a 4500 lbs SUV driven by a soccer Mom chatting on the phone and screaming to her kids on the back seat to town it down… because she can’t hear on the phone.
