What the deal with clip-on handle bars?

I see a lot of people swapping the stock handle bars for clip-ons. What's the deal with that? What's the motivation? Is there some advantage to it, or is it mainly a cosmetic kinda thing?

There is no real advantage , contrary to what people believe. The bike is designed for sport touring, I.E longer rides, more comfy. The people you see adding clip ons do it because they want the look / feel of a super sport, but dont' want to shell out the cash to purchase one.

That's not even partially true in my case and perhaps others. I'll admit my primary motivation when initially wanting the clip-ons was looks, it does corner better (I've had the bike for 4 years so I know the bikes feel). You certainly don't have to tuck just because you have clip-ons, and most probably do not and would not. Like you said it's not natural for this bike. It does make it easier to tuck though when the need arises. I tuck at higher speeds on part of my commute, because the cross winds are horrendous and almost rip me off my bike if I sit upright. Normal riding anywhere else I am usually pretty upright. I made the bike the way I wanted it. I didn't want a super sport or I would have gotten one nor did I want a Harley, hence no Harley either. I love the look, sound and feel of my bike with all my mods. It's my bike, no longer just a normal FZ6R, but my FZ6R. You shouldn't assume why someone got a mod or did whatever. Take a poll if you really want to know. Like I said, my initial reason was looks, but I love the handling 100x better. It doesn't add a ton of lean, but I don't like sitting straight up 100% of the time either. Sport/Touring gives the best of both worlds.
