Sun damage

How's it going everybody. Well I live in a very sunny part of Arizona and I've noticed that certain parts of my bike, especially the mirrors and handlebars have started to have the paint fade away. I've used a bike cover before and someone actually stole my last one, ridiculous I know. Just wanted to know some opinions and insight to any info someone has about maybe some products or ways to reduce or delay the effect of harmful sun rays. I do wax my bike maybe once a month and the body is in good shape it's really just the plastic parts that are wearing down fast. Again thanks in advance for any help. Take care everyone
 
Here is what I did...

Although I never had a cover stolen, I used to live at an apartment complex that was "questionable"...

I put my good cover on my bike, then put a cheap ebay cover on top of that one with a cable lock. I figured anyone interested in my good cover would have to take the time to cut off the cheap cover. Yes, it took some time to put on and take off two covers, but I felt better about having the bike protected from the sun, dust storms and monsoon rains.

As a side note, I read somewhere (possibly on this forum) that another FZ6R owner had his speedometer assembly damaged by the sun, as the stock windshield acted as a magnifying glass and warped the assembly. If I'm not going to cover my bike and its going to be out in the hot sun in excess of an hour, then I put an old white hand towel over the speedometer. I keep the hand towel under the passenger seat.

Won't restore color, but will prevent any further damage... I read up on this and did a lot of searching of other forums and shopping reviews... hands down, this stuff is what you want.... Since I bought it, been using it on all my vehicles.

Thanks for all the helpful info guys. I'll definitely look into those products. Also never thought to do a double cover. I really admire how helpful and friendly everyone is here on this forum. Thanks again.
