rear brake pads

i need some advice here.
last owner or shop didn't tighten up the rear wheel nut properly, so the rear disc was dragging against the left brake pad, i believe he rode like that for a while.

i re-adjust the rear wheel, now the dragging sound is gone and spins freely, but i noticed the left pad have a small gap in between.

i went out and did a few emergency stops with both or rear brakes only. although the rear brake seems to function normally, should i replace them?

I personally think you should for $30.00 or so could save your Life
don't screw around when it comes to braking.
Just my opinion.

When the left one wears down replace them. No real need to now. The compression from the piston will keep the caliper breaking properly even with the friction material looking the way it does.
