I'm seeing the same thing, but when it's in the garage, I don't see this circle. But if I have it parked in the sun all day I see it. So is the gas possibly expanding and going out the overflow tube? (Though it's weird how it's oily, but possibly due to the heat?)
If you park it in the sun, you will get gas dripping out of the fuel tank breather tube. This is why you should never park it on your asphalt driveway (or a friend's) in the sun. The gas will liquify the tar in the asphalt and the spot will soon become oily gravel.
In Alabama, in the summer, this is a certain formula for, later, finding your bike laying on it's side. Side stand, center stand, doesn't matter. The asphalt turns into goo in the sun. I carry around a piece of wood in my tankbag for this purpose.
The liquid is probably gas venting in the sun. Have watched it spray out of a freshly filled tank left in the sun when I've gone inside the gas station to get change or a drink. Yes, just that quickly.
Things are probably way different in Inuvik. Never been there, but it's on the list.
I do live in Texas. So the heat is definitely a factor. The place the bike was parked was on asphalt so that makes sense why it looked like oil. And now that mentioned, it did feel like tar to the touch/smell like it too. But, like said before, I believe the heat was making my gas expand...good to know I don't have a crazy oil leak
Ok to clarify the hose, it's the "Fuel Tank Drain Hose". If you look under the tank it's the one that's on the right side of the tank, that's the one where gas was coming from (right side being the side of the brakes). The other hose you see with that one is "Fuel Tank Breather Hose", it has a rollover valve so it breathes air not gas .
