I'm sure, with a pack like that, some were not riding in a legal manner.
Missouri State Patrol, this is one of the many videos from Ride of the Century. My guess is that he's on a stolen bike, only reason to really run.

What a massive collection of squids. They are the reason us bikers get such a shit time from other road users, because these twats give a very memorable and damning example of us.
What I don't understand is why such rideouts aren't planned with the police involved.
Over in the UK we plan our big rideouts (one i go to every year had 4,500+ bikes rock up to it this year) and involve the police in the planning process so much so that we get given a police escort, have other blue light riders (ambulance and fire as well as police) ride with us and stop traffic at major junctions for us to ride through.

It's because the police refused to be involved, STL metro and MSP apparently wanted nothing to do with the ride from what I've heard.
and JSP, I agree total douches, but there are a ton of people there on stolen bikes or don't have it registered/insured and it seems worth it just to run rather than get arrested.
Yeah, there's a time and a place to be crazy if you want... and it damn sure isn't on a busy highway. I am crazy once in a while but this is a big reason I don't ride in large groups and do a lot of solo riding. I never want to get pulled over in a large group because of what some other asshat is doing beside me.
I found one that started a little earlier...Looks like they tried to stop the road traffic completely and bikers scattered all over the place... Skip to about the 2 minute mark on...

notice they did issue many warnings... one video showed many bikes running from the cops... if you weren't doing anything wrong, no reason to run... I'd avoid this (loosely termed) "ride", like the plague. The event coordinators obviously have no respect for the laws of the road.

I am not siding with the bikers here but what did they do to get the cops involved?
The video I looked at didn't even show anything bad just easy riding!

ive wanted to ride in a group like that, for a while but seeing and reading this, makes me think twice about it
Its kinds like the media....obviously, the biker filming this is ONLY showing you the video of what they didn't do wrong to deserve police attention. All the shit they were doing before hand to get police attention he isn't going to post up. If the filming biker showed all the idiots doing stupid shit before hand, he wouldn't get any support from the public, so he shows the tame stuff and then blames/bashes the cops.
Why don't the cops support these types of "rides", you ask?? Because these same idiots are going to be there, doing the same stupid shit whether the cops are there or not...so, do you think it would look good to the general public if it looked like the cops supported that kind of hooligan behavior?!? I think not.
