Since I updated my itunes 11 on my windows 7. Airplay icon, disappeared. Air play still works on my phones and ipads to apple tv but I can't read my computer library.

The strange thing is that one day, the icon came back and worked fine for about 2 weeks, but my wife restarted the computer and the icon disappeared again.

I already tried everything like a lot of people on the apple discussion board.

Turned on and off my firewall.
Reseted firewall network settings.
Re installed itunes.
Re installed symantec/norton
turned on and off home sharing on itunes
reseted router
reseted modem.

This morning somebody posted that he created and new user on his computer and air play on that user was working fine.

I did the same and the guy was right. The new user (not administrator one) itunes airplay works fine.

Even tried to compare what was running on the background to see if something was missing on my administrator user and everything looks the same.

Anybody here having the same problem? Any expert knows the solution.

I really like apple, but I hate when you update stuff and screws what was working before flawlessly.

Problem Number 1...

You have prob already tried this but make sure you run your iTunes as Administrator and see how that goes...

So right click - Run as Admin -

Worked with mine. Have fun, half the joy of updates is gettig everything to work again....and again...and again,

Somehow, they (Apple, Microsoft) feel that thats the way we like it. Why waste millions in R&D when you can release to the public and have them Beta test Vers:1. lol

Just tried, no success.

And just switched users again (to test after a day) and in the other user (not administrator one) works fine.

Regarding norton, I have since day one on my computer and I never had a problem with air play until itunes 11.

Problem 1: Itunes

Problem 2: Windows 7
get a standard mp3 player, ditch windows!!! problem solved

sorry, can't help, I dumped itunes when I lost an ipod nano years ago (a gift, I'd never buy one).... itunes was one of the worst resource hogs and intrusive peice of sw I've seen, and that's when nothing was connected.

I'd call apple support
Agree with ditching windows. I'm sick and tired of the Slow motion OS where everything is hard to set up. (i used to be a computer geek back in the days, my first computer was a TK90X that you had to plug on the regular TV) when I got older, my interest kind fell out the tracks and I have no patience anymore to spend hours and hours setting up stuff and trying to figure out problems. I want to get an apple, but I really don't need a new computer.

I'm not a die hard apple fan but apple stuff is so user friendly that I can use my brain waves for other stuff than setting up computers. The only problem with apple is so overpriced.

I don't use Itunes to play mp3, I play from my phone. I use to stream all my media content to my apple tv's. It was working perfect and flawlessly until the new update.

Calling apple support as soon as I have a chance.

Turn off your computer and all airplay devices in your house.

Turn on each airplay device and then turn on your computer and iTunes.

If that doesn't resolve your problem try a soft reset on the phone with the home and lock buttons pressed until it powers down and lights back up with the apple symbol.

The second step fixed it for me on another issue I was having.
Tried already, phone, ipads, apple TV, airports, they all communicate between each other through air play no problem. But all of them don't see my PC Itunes.
