IMO bar end mounted mirrors are the way to go, look up what styles you like on Fleabay and what matches your budget.
Depending on the selected style, you can mount them so they sit above your hands or underneath, or on the outside of the bar.

Have you tried slipping the exhaust off, inserting the spool, slipping the exhaust back on?
The stand would come up from underneath anyway and not touch the exhaust

Suggestion to anyone following this at Step 8 DO NOT use superglue on your grips!
Grips wear out in time and require replacement.
If you use superglue you are going to have a shit time removing the grips and then most likely have to sand off the remainder of superglue.
Exchange the superglue...
