Do you have a torque wrench? If you are changing stuff around on you bike you may want to invest in one. I'd have to look again to be sure but I THINK it was around 10-14 lbs of torque per the service manual. I'd have to check though so don't torque em without finding out 1st.

I found that when I put on a cramp buster it helped give more support and feel to the throttle so I left it on there. You could try that too. Otherwise these guys are right about finding that sweet spot with the clutch so you don't tweek the throttle with the clutch fully out. Here's a link...

I too am key w/o chain. Last bike I had a key chain and after riding for a while it started making wear marks around the ignition area.
