Which front stand/lift??

7Need to raise bike to replace forks and maybe triple trees as well but these stands seem to raise the bike by the tree?

I have a buddy with the experience of breaking down and rebuilding custom cruisers for show but he only has underbelly stands and has never done a sportbike, so we need a front end to keep from messing up headers. Thanks.

I'm not sure why these links aren't working, sorry. But it's the $85 generic set of rear stand plus front triple tree stand. I suppose I can't remove the front trees to check for damage from my wreck with this stand?

yes, the triple tree lifts by the bottom of the tree...

if you are doing work on that.... I believe Marthy did a DIY under exhaust lift and had no issues, simple piece of wood and floor jack, I'm sure he can explain better

Might also consider a garage with exposed joists (just make sure it can support the load) or even a tree branch and a ratchet strap... it's been done before... I believe Cobalt has pics of his FZ1 up in the air in his garage around here somewhere.

I just ordered a Venom triple tree stand.

If you decide to go that route be sure to get a 21mm pin for the triple tree lift. The venom stand comes with 13mm - 18mm pins so you will need to order the 21mm separately or work out a method using existing pins. That's what I'm going to do when mine is delivered.

Went with two small car jacks that I will put under the base of the footpegs like Marthy does. Thanks for the referral dart1963! Saved me $70 plus I can work on the rear tire in the future with that hillbilly method

LOL, when I tore down my CB900 so many times, it often hung from a chain block and tackle hung from the rafters of my Dad's "shop." Said "shop" is a wooden shed with a carport attached.

He put some bracing up, and that bike hung from it's handlebars more often than I care to remember. There's easily been half a dozen bikes hung that way in his "shop."

Including this beauty:

It was left in a barn for a very long time. Nothing but rust and dirt. My Dad bought it from the owner for next to nothing, restored it and then eventually sold it back to him. Also for next to nothing. He's that kind of guy.

Anyway, that bike hung from the rafters, in differing states of repair for a pretty good while.

The moral of the story? There isn't one! It's a frickin' Honda Dream restored in a carport! Isn't that enough of a moral? Seriously, given the capability, willingness, tools, proper workspace and cash, near anything can be done.

Even my Dad wouldn't fix a bent frame though. Not and claim it to be as good as new.

He could and would swap in a new one.

Yes, it's possible to fix most anything that's wrong with a bike. Given the capability, willingness, tools, proper workspace and cash. That's the true moral to the story.

I wish the OP the Best of Luck! Honestly and truly. It is possibly a great adventure he is embarking upon, and I hope the damage is less than it appears and that all comes out well.

He bought and restored it for his wife, so she could learn to ride. She wasn't up to it, and that's why he was willing to sell it back to the original owner.

Sadly, I never got to ride it. He did a heck of a job restoring it, though. The picture honestly doesn't do it justice. It was just beautiful.
