What type of gear does your wife, GF, Passenger wear?


When the time came for my wife to get gear, in all reality it was me who had to pay for it. I took my wife to the store, tried some things on & this is what she ended up with.


She has a Scorpion EXO Jacket & Helmet along with Icon Gloves. Her jacket has a cool girly design that she really likes. Even has some pink color in it.

She doesn't own over pants yet but does wear jeans. She will get some over pants soon.

She also needs actual bike boots. Right now she wears street boots.

My wife is pretty much in the same boat. She doesn't wear nearly the gear I want her to. Joe Rocket jacket, Icon gloves, HJC helmet that I'm going to replace soon (which she bought on her own and I wasn't happy about it since its cheap and a bit too big.) jeans, and basic boots. Pants have been a huge pain in the butt. Sometimes literally. She's tried on every pair of riding pants made from cheap Bilt crap to Dianese and everything in between. The main reason just is fit issues. She's small and short with very short legs. But she's not 90lbs. So anything that fits her legs is a size 0 or 2 and anything that's the proper size (8 in most brands) is way too long. I'm talking knee pucks in the middle of her shins. Lol. We're going to have to get her something custom made. I really want her in a 1 piece, and she said she'd wear one if we could find one that fits. Other problem is she's a bit of a weather wuss and only goes out with me maybe a dozen times a year or so. So $800+ for a custom suit is a tough pill to swallow when she doesn't ride that much.

Boots are something we just haven't picked up just because when we're looking at them we're looking at pants too and end up leaving just frustrated.

With me being the gear nazi I am, this has been a major issue for us. But she loves riding with me and I do keep it very calm with her on the back. She gives me the signal to speed up in the canyons all the time and I just ignore it. Lol.

Back in the day, I always road in whatever I was wearing. My ex always road pillion with a full face helmet. She'd bitch and yell, but I just wouldn't do it. I wore the minimum the law allowed.

Then we had that down in North Georgia. Pure, freakin' luck kept my face on my skull. I happened to hit the gravel tucked, and my skull cap took the brunt. Her full face helmet was scarred from the top of her head, down the front to her chin.

Without that helmet, she would no longer have had a face. Night had fallen and we had just stopped to put on our leather jackets. Pure Grace of God.

Since then? Well we're no longer together, and not in contact. I really don't know if she's riding anymore. I am, and I learned the lesson. ATGATT, baby. ATTGAT.

I've turned down women who asked to ride on the back of my bike, because I don't have gear for them. I'm not going to feel responsible for their skin graft, because they wanted a joy ride and stuff happened.

Can you imagine walking away, untouched from a down, when your passenger is being taken to the hospital because she didn't have the gear you did?

When next I've a woman on the back of my bike, she will be geared up. No excuses. Period.

I dont ride with mine too often, but when I do;

Full face helmet
Jacket of some sort(she had one, but returned it for fit issues been nagging her to buy another one)

Nagging her to buy gloves soon, and boots. Wont require her to wear pants, because sometimes I dont wear them either(protective pants that is).

Is it wrong to have her pay for all of this? Opinions? Were not married, yet atleast.

As a gentleman, I'd buy period. (I'm the guy who buys lunch or drinks for my female coworkers when we go out even though I'm married and so are they. Just how I was raised I guess.) But I know with the cost of gear, that not always an option. I don't see anything wrong with asking her to buy or at least share the cost if she's the one asking to ride with you. But if you're the one asking her to ride with you, I'd say its up to you for sure. Just my opinion.

my passenger usually wears one of my jackets (full leather or leather/textile), leather motorcycle gloves, and a full-face helmet (all depends on which of my 3 I wear, haha).

really should replace two of my helmets though and just grab another HJC. great helmets for $100, but i'd really love an RF1100 or similar. so much $$ though

pants and boots are difficult since i'm generally much bigger than my passengers, so it's not like they can borrow either of those.

Mine rides a Ducati 750SS that she's had for about a decade, and has all her own gear. She handles heat better than I do and tends towards leather in black, while I go towards textile/mesh and light colors.

Well, I don't have a gf so I ride a handful of different girls. I have a couple of afx helmets that are pink for them and gloves. If I end up in a relationship I'll be sure my girl has textile pants and a jacket.

My girlfriend wears a Bell helmet that was originally mine but didn't fit me right,
a white Sedici perf. leather jacket,
and a pair of my old gloves (way too big for her).
currently in normal boots (at least they're leather) and jeans. I have her wear knee pads that I have from my rollerblading days over her jeans until we get some proper pants, and I have some purple scorpion gloves on the way.

I'll be much more at ease when she can be fully geared up.

We have matching HJC IS16 helmets, she has a mirrored sheild on it.

Matching Joe Rocket jackets, and she has leather gloves.

Always wears ankle covering leathers, we both need pants still, they are sooooo expensive for good stuff, and the sizes are a problem for both of us. We're short, and she is super short.

If someone is on the back of my bike, they are in full gear (except maybe jeans instead of riding pants and heavy boots). Now that my wife rides too, whether she is on the back or on her Ninja, FULL GEAR, NO EXCUSES.

As a guy, that's tough to argue with. If life were a video game, and my woman had the gumption? Even those wee panties are too much cloth!

Life is not a video game however. It doesn't matter how much I like the thought of a naked woman on a bike.

Makes for a great picture. If you're lucky enough to have a naked woman on the the pillion it also makes for a great memory.

Let's get real, though. Does anyone here really need me to search youtube for you, to show what an accident is?

I've ridden naked. In my opinion everyone should do it once. Just once. ATGATT for the rest of your life. It's honestly not hard to figure it out.

The difficulty is having the balls to carry it through, regardless of circumstances.

Eh, I think I found a pic of your last ride. May need to stiffen up your suspension but hey man, If your wife is heavy, shes still your wife so take her out on it, She will probably enjoy it. Just get her some gear & make her feel comfortable...
