Rear brakes don’t turn on rear tail lights

I just recently picked up a 2015 FZ6R and everything is in perfect working condition, except for the connection between the rear brakes and the brake tail lights. The brake pedal does infact work at stopping the bike very well, but the light doesn’t turn on when you use it, which worries me that it won’t pass for safety when I eventually register it next week. Anyone know what I should do to fix it? Or would bringing it to a shop be the best method?

Make certain the switch is activated by the spring when you press the brake. Do a continuity check on the switch, make certain it functions. trace the connections back through the wire harness. This assumes the light is activated by the front brake. If that is the case, chances are the problem is the switch is out of adjustment or defective, or a 'loose connection' from the switch to the harness.

It's most likely a pretty simple fix. The switch is likely out of adjustment. The switch adjustment nut is just above the right foot peg. I had a similar issue, but my brake light was staying on. A few turns on the adjustment nut and problem solved.
