the reason why i got my exhaust was for safety first of all. To many people cut me off with that stock exhaust and made my stomach turn whenever someone merged over to my lane. Yes, granted it is quiet so cops wont hear you, but i would rather be alive and get a ticket for speeding, then dead on the ground or broken bones from someone who cut me off.

And btw, there are other types of exhaust mods you can do at a fraction of the cost. Look up marthys exhaust. I did the viper mod and only paid 50 bucks for some r6 headers, 200 for the viper slip on, and 25 bucks on other parts(brackets, exhaust hanger, ext)..around 275 total. Another 200 for the PCV but if you got the TB with PCV it would be close to 1300 vs 500...

I see where your coming from, but IMO i would rather be herd, then never be herd from again...thats just my .02

Cool.......

i got my exhaust for no other reason than my Son said my exhaust sounded like a "flock of hummingbirds"

a Dad has to do what a Dad has to do.............................

I left the exhaust stock because it has a catalytic converter on it and emissions to our atmosphere concern me. It might be just a drop in the bucket, but every drop counts.

i want an after market exhaust but i dread the popping sound alot of people say they get. backfiring sounds like shit.

It backfires mainly if you do not get a power commander/fuel controller. Also installing block off plates will get rid of it if there is any.

Mine doesnt backfire at all unless I lay on the throttle and decelerate quickly while everything is still cold..

Same here...Whenever its cold i will have popping only when i decelerate and after about 5 minutes of being on the bike, no more popping whatsoever...i dont even have a PCV yet(college kid with no money, next purchase though) so there are ways around that popping sounds... And some people like it, some dont. For some odd reason, i love it. but i could just be weird like that lol...

OK, The bs about "I made it louder cause it's safer" is the biggest line of stupid I have ever heard drool from anybodies lips. Please stop and think.... there is a fabulous thing call a horn. Does your car have a louder exhaust so people can hear you? Most of you, no. So in that theory people run into run lane with their car cause they didn't hear you? LMAO!!!! :spank:

You like to sound like you are on a race bike, it makes you feel cool, you don't like flocks of humming birds, those are at least real answers.

HAHAHahhaaha humming birds...... that was good....

Hmm...first of all i take it you dont have a modified exhaust system on your bike so you clearly dont know the difference from first hand experience...

Second of all, how big are our bikes compared to cars? Theres this thing called "blind spots" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_spot_(vehicle)) when you are driving a car which allows you not to see things that are behind you off to either side. When i am driving my bike i am not going to honk my horn at every car i pass, cause that would be stupid and make me look like an asshole honking at everyone i pass (considering i live in the city and pass a hell of a lot of cars on my way to work)...when im driving in someones blind spot and have my louder exhaust system compared to the stock exhaust i see people turn there heads seeing WTF is that noise behind them, and hence its my louder exhaust which means they see me and wont merge into my lane!!!! I also dont think you took into account that not everyone on the road checks there blinds spots! they simply look at there rear view mirror, side mirror and then merge over, some dont even use their blinker so how am i even suppose to know they are wanting to merge over into my lane??? idk if everyone in your city check their blinds spots, but boy i would move there in a heart beat if 100% of the population did.

As far as my car not having a louder exhaust, hell no it doesn't because its about 2-3 times as wide as my bike...people can see cars a hell of a lot better in there mirrors then they can see bikes. and yes i can see you coming back with the argument that i could be in a blind spot in my car, but then again if someone merges over into my lane when i am driving my car i will have a better chance of staying alive then if i was on my bike (cause there're these things called seat belts and airbags...)

you have your right to your opinion 100%, im not arguing against that. Its just that from "MY" personal experience i had old farts and dittzy blonds cut me off on interstate with that stock exhaust. With my modified exhaust system i personally see people turn there heads when i down shift and gun the throttle to make my exhaust roar allowing them to know that i am there..

And yes it does make the bike sound cool, but it also adds HP, looks, and more masculine look to the bike which idk who wouldn't want that...

when im driving in someones blind spot

humm.... maybe you should stop riding in peoples bind spot... :spank: that's a good way to get yourself run off the road, or worse...

just my opinion

how am i suppose to get out of someones blind spot when theres someone in front of me and a car to the right of me or vise versa...? Im not saying that i regularly ride in peoples blind spots for the hell of it, im just saying when the situation presents itself to where im stuck in their blinds spots...like when people are blocking you in to where you cant pass them and get out of their blind spots...

I don't on this bike, My futura yes, but thanks for the actual answer.

By the way, since you put forth the effort to address the blind spot, try NOT sitting in it. I have not had a problem in 20yrs of riding with both types of exhausts. Straight pipes, cans, and stock shhhhh..... However, the distinct pleasure of being able to have people snap their head when you "down shift and gun the throttle" is not for a safety thing. It's for:steve:

about the same here. I wouldn't mind a deeper grumble, but don't really want it much louder... I get home at all times of the night and leave at all times in the morning... don't need to be making my neighbors mad at me during the riding season

+1, same here

On a side note, my CAR does have a full 3" exhaust from the 5" bellmouth out of the turbo, straight pipe. You want loud? I don't hear bikes.... not even my buddies hd fatbob with cobras lmao!!!!!

for everyone saying for me NOT to sit in someones blind spot, i dont. Its not like i bought the bike to go and see how many people can cut me off and kill me...

but all of you guys are saying that this has never once happened to you???

please tell me where you guys live cause apparently the lack of oxygen in Colorado makes us not check our blind spots vs the 100% of people that do check it in ur city...

and can someone please answer me on how to not "sit in a blind spot" when there are cars in front of me and to the side of me blocking me in as shown in the vids above? if there was no one in front of me then of course i would not be in their blind spot, but lane splitting here is illegal and i wouldn't do it anyways...and if i slow down then that puts me at risk of getting rear ended...
