Hello all, this is my first post on this forum. I have a 2009 FZ6R with 25,600 miles I bought about 6 months ago and I’ve put a little over a thousand miles on it so far. The bike has been fine mechanically for me and never had trouble starting or running, but recently has been throwing the code 19 for side-stand switch malfunction. The first time the code was thrown was taking off from a stop where it felt like it stalled out but in reality was the ignition cut off from the code, and then happened again when I was pulling into my driveway. It then happened a couple of times later in the day when starting, it died right away, and the third time I started and held throttle because I hadn’t looked into code 19 yet and thought maybe it was something with the spark plugs being old. I went and filled up with 93 from the gas station maybe assuming I had bad fuel in it from the previous fill up but then giving it decent throttle after I left the gas station the bike threw the code at about 40mph in first gear and required me to cycle ignition twice before I was able to start it. I rode lightly home that day and tried to clean and mess with the kickstand switch a bit, which seemed to fix the issue for the following ride. The bike then sat for a week while I was out of town. When I got back a couple days ago, I removed the switch and replaced it with one from eBay off of a bike with only 2,200 miles because it seemed like the issue improved after messing with the old switch and I wanted to rule out the old switch causing the issue. Anyway, I rode it fine yesterday for probably about an hour in total with a mix of city and hard highway riding, and the bike didn’t have any issues whatsoever. Today though, I take it out fine to class, but when I get back on to ride home after, it threw the code immediately and just cranked without firing, so I flipped the kill switch once which didn’t do anything but about 5-10 seconds later the code just vanished and started and ran fine home. I then wanted to inspect the wiring harness and relay mentioned in another post with the similar issue and code 19, and nothing seemed to be damaged at all on the connector for the relay, and only minor snags to the harness that don’t seem to expose any wires. I turned the key to on to see if I could try and move the harness around to recreate the issue but before even touching the harness it threw the code but vanished after only a few seconds, and I tried and tried messing with the harness in different spots, both with the bike running and not, and could not recreate the issue. So this is where I’m at now, I saw a video for an FZ6 where it was resolved by cleaning the connector for the sidestand switch, so I’ll go ahead and try that since it seemed to improve after replacing the switch but not fully. If anyone has any advice or suggestions that would be great!
