+1 to Detrich and wgtrant87
Here's the Scorpion EXO-1000 I use. You can find them at various retailers for around $300. Very Comfy helmet. You can see the fighter-style flipdown sunshade in the photo.
I'm all about personal freedom.... but this happens to be a case where one person's 'freedom' directly effects others in the same insurance premium / risk-assessment pool. It directly effects the wallets of every other safe-conscious rider/driver out there. And why? A fashion statement? It...
Just got back from South Carolina (visiting the folks). I was pretty much dumbfounded as I crossed the border. SC doesn't have a helmet law, so you would not believe how many people I saw on sportsbikes and cruisers with ZERO protection; not even gloves.
Why on God's Green Earth would any...
Hey Jon, my comment was really meant for those that post concerning all the micro-enhancements in horsepower they try to slap on the bike. The reason why you and I would want the 2-bros exhaust is exactly the same.... give the bike a growl. Like you, I prefer the riding position and the smooth...
Just wanted to comment on two of your points....
1) Most of the 600cc sportbikes you mentioned will still make you look like a gorilla on a moped. They are the same size if not slightly smaller then the fz6r. The only exception might be the FZ6 as it seems to me a bit taller and longer...

Who needs gas? I had Doc Brown install one of these:
But on the serious side... it's obvious from the manual that Yamaha is good with 87 octane and up. Since our tanks are so small, it's the difference between spending 7 dollars for a fill-up versus $7.50 (at least where I am). Go...
Well.. it's not really noted what the width is.. but here is the exact tape I bought from Dunstan.
Custom Printed Wheel Stripes Rim Tape for YAMAHA:eBay Motors (item 190344207543 end time Nov-22-09 17:32:43 PST)
Just put on Rim Tape
Got my rim tape from Dunstan Graphics last week and finally made time to put them on yesterday. I think I did a decent job...nothing perfect, but from a distance you really can't see the issues.
Don't know if you can see from the photos... this shade of blue was the...
Well.. you've put up quite a few pros and cons for both sides... You can now break it down to one simple issue; an issue you will not realize until you've purchased a naked bike and stared at it for a good long time in your garage....
FULLY FAIRED BIKES ARE SEXIER
I myself like looking at...
Hey Pyrocpu,
I myself finished my MSF in the Spring and the Gladius, ER-6n, and 650r were also on my list of first bikes. I'll tell you from experience, that the FZ6r is a great first motorcycle. The transition from the MSF bikes to the FZ6r was seamless. Throttle response is extremely...
Yea... same thing happens to me... I think when you're putting the helmet on (and assuming it's good and snug), your ear gets stretched a bit in the process, and the earbud pops out. I gave up after two rides with it.. cause it felt like one earbud was too loose and was distracting me.
Fieldsheer Sonic Air II Gloves
Bought these from Motorcycle Superstore. $39.00 which I think is a great deal. They are longer then a short-cuff, but shorter then a full gauntlet. They're light, but feel substantial enough to offer protection in a fall. They breathe good in 80 degree weather...
Ok.. I'm braced for the hate about to come my way... but everytime I see the integrated turn signals on a bike, I shake my head. I mean, what we do is already inherently dangerous due to the text-messaging cagers out there. Even with my stock lights, I always have that tingle in the back of...
Okay.. let me start this by saying I'm 'happily' married.
Yesterday, on the commute home, I passed 'two' other sportbike riders apparently commuting as well (they weren't together - I passed them at different points). The unusual thing being both were female. One was riding a CBR I think...
You guys think the yellow decal set would look good on a yamaha blue bike? If any of you photoshop wizards can superimpose those decals on a blue bike, that would be most helpful!
I get it
I in some ways agree with Calltrex in that I also think it's a bit odd that people will buy a $7000 bike and then spend $1500 in aftermarket doodads and upgrades that come stock in a more powerful bike costing $8500 brand new.
for example... Why buy a FZ6r and get aftermarket...
