Sounds like you've answered your own question. But, just in case, what about a track day every couple of months? Still ride hell for leather, great fun, and no cagers!
Congratulations, too!
I have over 41,000 miles on my FZ6R, and love it. I hammer the corners as quick as I dare. OEM tires were good, replacements were RoadSmarts. Good tire, a bit hard. I learned to hang off the bike on these tires. Used the entire surface. Switched to ContiMotions for cost savings. Again, no...
How does lowering the bike affect the turn in? I like your mod, but don't really want to lower anything. I have to watch tire pressure to avoid grinding pegs! And I just go faster if someone asks if it is a 300!
New front tire and oil change. And a new headlamp! Low Beam went out Sunday morning right before a ride. 123 miles with new rummer all around. So far, the tires perform wonderfully!
I wear earbuds on all rides longer than about 10 minutes. I use Skull Candy buds, and they work great for me. I have worn them for hours on long rides w/o discomfort. I used to use ear plugs when I had a louder bike. My Icon helmet is very loud and earplugs were a must for me. As a musician I...
I have ridden many miles through Leakey and beyond on the Three Sisters. I was in the area from 2006-2011. Got my FZ6R new in 2009, and rode over 4,000 miles on the Sisters area. More than 10,000 in the Hill Country in two years. I miss the area, and live in Western North Carolina now. Curves...
I have had the same question, and like you, I don't know how they can confuse the two. Had a guy tell me that my R6 was the bike to beat at Chuckawalla!
I know what you mean about twisties! I have been working (yeah!) these last two weeks, and haven't ridden the bike at all until today. Work was cancelled due to rain, but it cleared up and I was off to my favorite lunch spot in South Carolina. 88.5 miles, over 70 were twisty. Highway 28 S and...
I have always shifted a little early, especially compared to some of the shift points mentioned here. I generally shift at about 5,000rpm. I have picked up my pace since I put Michelin 2CT series tires, and have found that my spirited pace has occasioned to have me shift at 6,000 or higher. But...
I have used the Sportmax tires for the first three sets, and they worked great in Texas Hill Country and middle Tennessee riding. When I moved to Western NC, I wanted to save some money and went with ContiMotion tires (2 sets). I ride a lot (two words!) and it is at least 90% twisties. They have...
You'll have to head west to find the Hill Country (unless you already know where they are!). I lived in Hill Country for 5 years, two of them with my FZ6R. The Three Sisters is a great ride, as is the Devil's Backbone between Austin and Mineral Springs (if I remember correctly). Fredericksburg...
I usually wear cowboy boots when I ride, though I do have a pair of Wolverine boots (chukka's) that have a flat sole. I have not had the experience you mentioned, but I have scraped the soles of my boots (ball of foot area each time) while going into a tight, ascending curve. It is definitely an...
I do not have one of these vests, but I do ride an Icon Airframe helmet. I'd suggest taking it back to the dealer, and they ought to replace it for you. And I don't wear leather unless it is too cold for my mesh jacket and liner.

I have a pair of the Built Storm pants. Got a bigger size cause I needed to be able to bend the knees! Anyway, their zipper is opposite the leather jacket I was given. But, they will zip together... so I am considering having the zipper on the jacket reversed (cut off, reverse it so it matches...
I generally run the highest octane I can get, and am lucky enough at times to get ethanol free gas. I find that I still average about 50mpg, unless my enthusiasm kicks in, then it is down to 47mpg. Seems not to matter too much to the bike, but I feel better about it. And the cost difference on...
