    Fz6r rear cowl seat

Well that's interesting, since the page I linked was directly from Yamaha Global. Maybe they don't know their own products? :) I see the single-piece seat, but that still doesn't really look quite like the one is the photo from the cowl ad page. The grab rail and tail fair profiles are...

    Fz6r rear cowl seat

Exactly. That's the same shop I linked to earlier, and it clearly shows that their cowl in no way will fit the 09-17 FZ6R, regardless of what they say. It looks nothing like our bikes. I'm not sure what bike that is they are showing in the product image, but it sure isn't an XJ6-F.

    Fz6r rear cowl seat

Yeah, I would love to be able to produce something around $100, but I'm not sure if that's feasible. Honestly, I'm not sure if this is doable at all, since my time is limited, and it's a fairly complex part.

    Fz6r rear cowl seat

Do you have a link for a cowl you think will fit? The one posted earlier was for a totally different style of bike.

    Fz6r rear cowl seat

Umm... do you mean the one that's clearly for a totally different bike? Please let us know if you found one that looks like it will fit the FZ6R, but so far we haven't found one that looks likely.

    Fz6r rear cowl seat

Yeah, that's the Chinese aftermarket one that was floating around for a while. It seems that a few smaller stores (like that one) still have a couple, and are charging way more than it's worth in hopes that anyone who wants one will pay through the nose for it. lol I found this one last night...

    Fz6r rear cowl seat

Nah, that's totally different than the FZ6R tail. Speaking of price, if I was able to fabricate something, it would likely end up being at least $100 shipped, including whatever hardware I could include that didn't have to be swapped from the bike. I'm only basing that on the amount of time it...

    Fz6r rear cowl seat

Doesn't it always?! :) I took my passenger seat off last night and looked at it, with the idea of modeling it. It's actually a fairly complicated piece. One problem I see with prototyping is that the front hooks are molded into the base pan, so I would have to actually destroy my seat, or make...

    Fz6r rear cowl seat

That's a good point. If there was actual interest in something that I could sell, then it might be worth the many hours of work that it will take to produce and refine. Do you have a link for the eBay auction?

    Fz6r rear cowl seat

I do like the idea of modeling it and 3D printing a cowl that can be installed on the factory seat pan, or at least using the factory hardware. Maybe I'll tackle it after all... one of these days... yessir, any time now.. :)

    Fz6r rear cowl seat

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I absolutely know the process for digitizing a physical object into a 3D model for printing or manufacturing. What I meant is that it's extremely complicated, and would be far more than my skills would allow. I work in civil engineering and design, and we use 3D...

    Fz6r rear cowl seat

Make one...how? I do have a 3D printer, but I wouldn't know where to begin with the modeling.

I've been looking for one as well. If you do find one, please post it here.

    Hard shifting after oil change

Turns out oil level was simply too high. I removed several ounces and it's fine now. To answer your question, just under 12k on the clock, and the clutch seems to be fine. Thanks for the reply!

How To bar end mirror mod

The basic idea of this mod is to allow the mounting of most any cheap eBay or Amazon-type bar end mirrors without sacrificing hand space, or having to change handlebars, since the 6R uses screw-in bar ends. I realize many of us might not have (or have access to) a metal lathe, but for those that...

    Question Fork/Handlebar twist?

I have the Venom front and rear stands, but not the triple tree version. Do you have a link? I'd be interested to check it out maybe. I don't think I have anything to hang it from, none of my garage supports are exposed, and I don't the the wife would take kindly to me screwing eye bolts into...

    Question Fork/Handlebar twist?

Thanks Jerry. That was actually one of the first things I checked. Yes, they have the same amount of protrusion on each side through the triple tree. I looked into loosening the top clamps yesterday, but this bike doesn't seem to have any way to place a jack or supports from the underside. It's...

Question Question about clicking noise during shifting

That's odd indeed. I'm sure someone would know what that is right away. Unfortunately, that's not me. ;) Hopefully it's as simple as a cable adjustment.

Question Question about clicking noise during shifting

I assume you mean with the clutch lever pulled fully in, right? It sounds like you're trying to shift without the clutch (intentionally or otherwise), which works fine in every gear above 2nd, but not for the 1-2 shift. If you do, you'll typically get stuck in N, just as you describe. Why that...

    Hard shifting after oil change

So this is odd... I just bought the bike, so I figured it would be a good idea to give it some fresh oil and a new filter. I put in Shell Rotella T6 Full Synthetic 5w-40, and a PurolatorONE PL14612 filter. Everything went easy, no issues removing the filter or anything. After the change, when...
