For any of you mechanically technical folks:
Performed valve adjustment and replaced 58,000 mile timing chain and cam sprockets.
Timing chain tensioner was already removed.
The crankshaft accidentally turned over about 90 degrees while applying the force needed to break loose the rotor wheel...
Anyone with the FZ6R Service Manual .PDF, please verify this with me:
Page 5-15 indicates the torque spec for the camshaft sprocket bolts to be 1.5 ft. lbs.
When I saw that, I was like "Well that's WAY too loose.." and so I referred back to Page 5-9, which is the general blow-out illustration...
Getting ready to turn 56,000 miles and am gonna finally go ahead and perform the bike's first valve adjustment. Have a couple seconds of clatter on startup, too, which according to various R6 vids on YouTube, likely points to a stretched timing chain and possibly worn out chain...
I'll be turning 50,000 miles on my 2009 FZ6R soon. Engine-wise, I've got an R6 header, Yoshi can, Power Commander PCFC running Marthy's Sport map. I run NGK Iridium IX plugs and 93 octane, always.
I've never had to do anything to this bike other than normal maintenance stuff.
Recently installed an R6 header, Yoshimura can, Blackpath block-off plates, and PCFC.
