  • OK we're good for Saturday morning. It takes me about an hour to get to the base of the tight side of Paly from my house. How about we meet there at about 9:30 on Saturday.
Pretty good actually. Let me just double check with the wife to make sure I'm not forgetting plans we may have made and I'll message you later tonight. If I forget, text me tomorrow. 619-335-3610. Don't call, I'm on phones all day at work but texting is OK. BTW - what's your real name?
OK I'll send you a message later this week. I hope my neck feels good enough by then. Couldn't ride today because of it. Should be better by then but I'll let you know.
Yup. You can get some good deals this time of year on decent riding pants. Frank Thomas from Cycle Gear are really good for the price. I got the Frank Thomas XTi jacket and pants on clearance. You can just get the pants and zip them to the jacket you have.
Spend your money on your riding gear first, then upgrade the bike. Sliders I think are #1 if you don't already have them. Tires will come as they wear out. Chain/sprockets were replacement for stock. Chain was done at 15k. Most everything else was cosmetic and can be done a bit at a time. I did the R6 exhaust a few months ago when I was out of work and had the time to finish it. Brake lines... I'm still not sure they're really needed for the street. Our brakes aren't as strong as some bikes, but I did a stoppie once with the rear tire a good foot off the ground stopping in an emergency. The brakes are strong enough to do that w/ a 470lb bike and 230lb rider. They're not good enough for racing. But I think they're fine for the street. You won't be to the point you're pushing the brakes that hard for a while.

Safety is #1 to me. When I rode the canyons in jeans before I got my leathers in April, I wore knee/shin guards & armored shorts under. Spend your $$ on gear to keep you safe.
OK this turned out longer than I planned. LOL Sorry for the book.
Here's the order I made my upgrades.
    1. Frame Sliders.
    2. FE Kit and Flush mounts w/ additional LED blocks in the "air intake" for forward facing front turn signals. (Lots of splicing of wires and soldering on extra plugs involved the way I did it. I race RC Cars so I'm used to doing my own wiring.)
    3. HID headlight
    4. Tires (On my 4th set of tires so far.)
    5. R6S Mirrors
    6. Shoei RF1000 Helmet
    7. Tinted DB Windscreen
    8. 2 pc leather suit, real riding boots, and GOOD gloves.
    9. Shorty Levers
    10. GYTR R6 Exhaust
    11. EK Chain and Driven sprockets.

    Still to come
    12. PCV
    13. RaceTech spring kit
    14. Forcefield Body Armor
    15. Who knows what else I'm going to want to do. LOL
There's a lot of shops in town that will do a dyno tune. I'm going to have Mike at Full Throttle Powersports in Santee do mine. He does any work for me that I can't do myself and he's got a dyno. I won't take my bike to anyone else. He's a good guy and treats me well. I've ridden with him a few times.
No worries about all the questions, that's what we're all here for. For the TBR, you can get a away with just a standard Juice Box. If you're looking at the Pro, I'd go a head with a PCV. Any Dyno Shop who's going to utilize the additional adjustability will want you to have a Power Commander. I'm going to be putting a PCV on my bike as soon as I get the $500 for it and the dyno tune.

As for the forks, I haven't made any changes there. I wouldn't even try that until you have a lot more miles and better tires on. Some may say that they didn't notice much instability, but you might. And that's one adjustment that should be done in increments of millimeters, not inches. It's a touchy one.
If you're looking for custom graphics, I had some vinyl made by houseofgrafix.net - Home I just Emailed him some images of the FZ6R font and told him what color combinations I wanted as well as the YAMAHA and the tuning fork logo and he made them. If you're looking for a skin, I'm not sure he can help as he's not local and would need the bike to make a template. There are a couple of other companies out there that already have full skins for this bike. Search the forum for "skin" or "graphics" and you should be able to find them.
Im trying to avoid that at all costs. Thinking of doing the same thing another guy did in an old thread I posted about it. An fz6 mod that actually works for this bike. I tried a 20 mph turn at 55 with my tires. Needless to say scared the sh*t outta me.
